Shizuoka Prefecture held the Shizuoka Prefecture SDGs Business Award 2024 on December 12, inviting a wide range of business proposals for solving SDGs and environmental issues, and recognizing outstanding proposals. Approximately 100 people attended the event, where eight finalist organizations were selected after a rigorous screening process that included input from the Ministry of the Environment and regional business leaders.

The Prefectural Governor's Award for Excellence went to local startup Soy, which uses fermented waste coffee grounds to develop new food and cosmetic products.

Awards were also given to Nakamura Construction for its tree-planting project using mycorrhizal fungi; Kakegawa Model, a plastic recycling team; and Umi-Go, a sea fishing reservation app.
