The city of Toyonaka in Osaka Prefecture has started a project to use classrooms in closed elementary schools to support new businesses.
The project launched in the former Noda Elementary School building, where the social support organization Borderless Japan has started an indoor mushroom farm that provides employment for people with disabilities.
Other businesses also have plans to use the classrooms of the closed schools for various purposes, such as supporting the employment of people with disabilities and teaching children video editing.
