On October 11th, the city of Tsukuba in Ibaraki Prefecture signed a cooperation agreement with JSIP, a startup support organization based in Singapore. Through this agreement, Tsukuba City will strengthen its startup support in the Asian market and encourage the overseas expansion of companies from the region.
Going forward Tsukuba and JSIP will hold regular meetings and plan and implement joint seminars and consultation events. JSIP will provide free consultation to companies aiming to expand into Singapore, and also plans to provide support in terms of branding and marketing.
Tsukuba Mayor Rissei Igarashi commented, “Singapore is an Asian hub, so we will first expand into the Asian market, which has many cultural similarities, and then aim to expand globally from there.”
Tsukuba City has already formed partnerships with support organizations in Luxembourg and North America, and with this latest collaboration with JSIP, it now has a startup support system in place in three regions: the US, Europe and Asia.
