The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has announced its budget estimates for FY2025. The focus is on strengthening technological intelligence — including in strategic areas such as quantum computing, next-generation aircraft, and space — and startup support is expected to continue to be expanded.

Particular emphasis is placed on support for growth-stage companies seeking to expand globally, as well as on expanding the R&D budget. Support for deep-tech startups in the GX (Green Transformation) and healthcare sectors will be emphasized.

In addition, a wide range of support measures will be provided to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to address high prices and labor shortages.
