UntroD Capital Japan, which invests in the deep tech sector, opened a new branch in Sapporo in December 2024. This base aims to support startups in the fields of cold-weather agriculture, renewable energy, and biotechnology.
The base was set up within Ezohub Sapporo, an incubation facility for startups operated by Satsudora Holdings. The company has a track record of investing in startups from Hokkaido, having invested in Farmnote, which develops support systems for livestock farming, and Mjolnir Spaceworks, which develops rocket engines.
UntroD Capital Japan also established a startup support base in Fukuoka City in October, and is promoting the development of startups that make the most of the characteristics of each region. The company aims to “unearth the potential of each region and foster companies that can compete globally,” and hopes to produce companies from Hokkaido that can compete on the world stage.
