Fukuoka City sets sights on attracting digital nomads

#digital nomads, #co-working, #CommunityEngagement, #WorkVisa

Fukuoka City is focusing its efforts on attracting ‘digital nomads’ — tech workers who live and work remotely from around the world. In October 200 people from around 40 countries attended the Colive Fukuoka 2024 program, experiencing local culture and attending conferences.

Participants worked remotely from a shared office in the city, and enjoyed eating at food stalls and visiting sake breweries. At the main event, the World Nomad Conference, there were discussions about digital nomad visas and community building.

Yuichi Yokoyama of Fukuoka City's Economic, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Bureau said, “we want to attract digital nomads who will stay for long periods and actively contribute to the local economy.”

Fukuoka City hopes to grow the city in terms of both tourism and business by attracting digital nomads.
