The Kyoto Research Park (KRP), run by the Osaka Gas Group, is now in the process of actively attracting university-based startups. KRP provides office space and research facilities to companies and public organizations, and in April it strengthened its research support system by setting up new rental laboratories. Through this, it aims to promote the occupancy of university-based startups, which had previously been lacking, and to revitalize the entire facility.
KRP was established in 1989 on the site of a former Osaka Gas factory, and there are currently around 510 organizations based in the 18 buildings on the site. The introduction of the new laboratory has further strengthened the system to meet the needs of companies engaged in research and development. There are also plans to convert the office building into a research facility by 2027.
