SPACE COTAN, operator the commercial Hokkaido Spaceport (HOSPO), emphasized the company's efforts to standardize international rules and reduce launch costs at the Hokkaido Space Summit 2024.
HOSPO is working with spaceports around the world to standardize rocket launch site facilities and promote mutual use.
President Yoshinori Odagiri stated, “once common rules are established, rockets built in Japan will be launched in the United States, and rockets built in the United States will be launched from HOSPO,” as he expressed his intention to continue to promote cooperation with many spaceports in the future.
Eight commercial spaceports including HOSPO are scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding at an international conference in Italy. Roosevelt Mercer Jr., CEO of the Virginia Space Port Authority also attended the Space Summit and emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between spaceports to contribute to the development of the local economy.
