On 1st August the city of Hamamatsu in Shizuoka Prefecture launched the website HAMAHUB! to match start-ups from across the country with companies in the city. The platform aims to promote open innovation and revitalize the local economy.

Features of HAMAHUB! (apart from the jolly name) include:

• Information on start-ups and medium-sized companies in the city.
• Introducing new technologies and know-how to the region.
• Supporting start-ups expanding into the city
• Providing support through certified VCs.

HAMAHUB! is part of a broader initiative seeking to incorporate start-up ideas and initiative with the existing manufacturing industry, in order to respond to environmental changes such as the EV shift.

Operated by start-up support company Four Startups, the website aim to create three cases of such collaboration by the end of FY2024.
