Uda City partners with with Estonia in tech initiative

Uda City in Nara Prefecture is strengthening its ties with Estonia and aiming to solve the issues of depopulated areas through education and human resource development. Mayor Ichiji Kongo aims to foster human resources who can solve issues on their own through entrepreneurship education that incorporates Estonia's advanced technology and entrepreneurial ecosystem, and to promote immigration among the child-rearing generation.

Uda City plans to start a study abroad program in Estonia from the autumn of 2025. This program, run in collaboration with the Estonian startup company Cleveron, aims to train robotics experts. Students will study technology in a three-year program, whereupon they will obtain a bachelor's degree from an Estonian university. Scholarships will be provided for students establishing a new company in Uda after graduating.
