Mitsubishi UFJ Bank hosted their first event in Kyoto to support the matching of startups and large companies. Seven startup companies, including a spin-out from Kyoto University, pitched their businesses and held one-on-one meetings with about 30 area companies.
Tadahiro Yanase, manager of the Kyoto branch of Mitsubishi UFJ, said, "We hope to help create a virtuous cycle of industrial concentration by bridging promising startups in Kyoto, such as energy and bio-related companies, with large companies from across Japan.”
The event was organized by Mitsubishi UFJ, startup support organization Plug and Play Japan, and VC firm Kyoto University Innovation Capital. New technologies such as next-generation bendable solar cells and devices that generate electricity from heat were introduced.
