In January, the University of Aizu began construction of the Fukushima Digital Innovation Regional Core Center, a new facility intended to accelerate joint research in AI and robotics. It will include state-of-the-art equipment, including a semiconductor design and testing environment and data analysis infrastructure.
Supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, 240 million yen of the total 300 million yen project cost will be covered by government subsidies. Research areas will cover AI, data science, cybersecurity, carbon neutrality, and Cyber Physical Systems (CPS), and will strengthen industry-academia collaboration with local and national companies.
