SMASELL raises 750 million yen for dead inventory platform

#Founding, #Fashion

SMASELL, a B2B trading platform for apparel that has become dead inventory, announced on November 29 that it has raised 750 million yen in its latest round. The cumulative amount raised is estimated to have reached just under 1.1 billion yen.

SMASELL allows buyers to purchase apparel products at lower than market prices, and sellers to reduce the cost of having inventory handlers and industrial waste companies pick up their products. To meet B2B demand, SMASELL allows buyers to order samples from sellers and negotiate prices as needed.

The company is increasing its customer base to include major apparel manufacturers, major GMS, major discount stores, and department stores, and as of November 2022, had opened about 1,300 stores and had about 220,000 users. In the future, the company plans to gradually develop activities aimed at creating a recycling-oriented society, such as collaborations with brands and manufacturers in the collection of clothing and upcycling projects with artists.
