Shin Keizairen (New Economic Federation) held their ‘Shin Keizairen and Niigata!’ event in, unsurprisingly, Niigata City. The event introduced Niigata's unique startup ecosystem and case studies of local companies expanding overseas. Participants included local executives, Shin Keizairen member companies, universities, and government officials, who discussed the industry-government-academia model of collaboration being championed by the Japanese government.

Keiichi Hori, deputy secretary general of Shin Keizairen, praised Niigata's model as a rare national success story. He was joined on stage by local business leaders who are challenging the global market in such fields as sake, whiskey, and golf club manufacturing. The event is intended to support local entrepreneurship and disseminate business strategies, and will be used to help inform Shin Keizairen's policy recommendations.
