The teleworking rate among full-time employees in Japan is 22.2%, the lowest level since April 2020 according to a survey of 30,000 people conducted in July 2023 by the research firm Persol Research Institute.
COVID-19 was changed to category 5 classification in May. Category 5 infectious diseases are considered to have the lowest risk based on infection rate and severity, as defined by the Infectious Diseases Control Law.
The teleworking rate among full-time employees doubled from 13.2% in March 2020 to 27.9% in April, and remained around 25% until July 2022.
