BULL, a startup based in Utsunomiya City that focuses on space debris mitigation, has been selected as part of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's initiative to promote innovation among small and medium-sized enterprises. The government will provide support up to 40 billion yen.

With ever-increasing progress in space development, the amount of space debris — including spent rockets, defunct satellites, and discarded components — continues to grow. These remnants pose a significant risk of collision with operational satellites and spacecraft. BULL is currently developing a device to reduce the velocity of space debris, causing it to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere and burn up faster. They plan to commercialize this technology within the next 1 to 2 years.
