Luup, an electric scooter-sharing service, has raised a total of approximately JPY4.5 billion, including a private placement of approximately JPY3.8 billion and bank borrowings and leases of approximately JPY700 million.

LUUP’s mission to "city-centerize the whole city" received a stroke of good fortune this year with Japan’s revised Road Traffic Law — granting much wider permissions for the type of vehicle LUUP operates — being scheduled to come into force on 1 July. Their latest funding round seeks to capitalize on this new opportunity.
