Shizuoka Prefecture has launched WAVES, a business contest for technological innovation and problem solving which invites ideas from startups and offers up to 18 million yen in prizes.
Categories range from the manufacturing industry, disaster prevention, carbon neutrality, and many more. Applicants must be individuals or small- to medium-sized companies that are based in the prefecture, or intend to locate there in the future.
Through this initiative, the prefecture aims to generate innovative ideas and transform itself into a more attractive prefecture for entrepreneurs and a younger demographic.
