For companies in Hyogo and Kobe, the opening of Microsoft's first AI center in Japan is an excellent opportunity to expand their business. Kobe was chosen as the site for the AI Lab because of the city's efforts to promote innovation, as well as the support of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, which had been working with Microsoft in developing an ‘industrial metaverse.’
Microsoft Japan President Miki Tsusaka emphasized the significance of opening a lab to support development using AI technology. At this facility, Microsoft engineers will assist in system construction and implementation for companies in Japan and Asia-wide.
Companies that have already taken advantage of the facilities on offer include Asahikoh Electric and Uheim, which uses AI to bake baumkuchen (a notoriously-difficult cake).
