Nagano City boosts support for startups: new subsidies cover hiring and market research costs

#Startup Support

Nagano is expanding its support for local startups seeking to grow their businesses. While the city has previously subsidized up to the full amount of office rent, starting in fiscal year 2023 it will also cover up to half the costs associated with hiring external talent and market research. This revision in the subsidy policy comes in light of the fact that many startups in their early stages tend to operate without renting an office.

For the employment or outsourcing of external talent for new businesses, up to half the costs to a maximum of 270,000 yen per month will be subsidized for a maximum of six months.

Additionally, subsidies have been introduced for prototype manufacturing, website development, legal fees, and more. These costs will be subsidized up to half, with an annual cap of 300,000 yen.

The support targets individuals or entities planning to continue their operations in Nagano for at least three years. Applications have been open since the 10th, with the support being offered within a budget of approximately 20 million yen for the fiscal year.
