Unboxing: new series begins!

The Blackbox team has interviewed many foreign entrepreneurs from a variety of backgrounds, nationalities, and industries. What they all have in common is that the most important thing for starting a business in Japan is to understand Japanese culture.

Up to now, we have provided articles for readers who are aiming to start a business in Japan by focusing on information about startup and entrepreneur support. While such initiatives have been well received by our readers, we have begun to ask ourselves whether there is a need for more information about Japanese culture.

To this end, we are launching a new series of articles called “Unboxing Japan.” In this series we will be covering Japanese culture, values, and trends that will help our readers to gain a deeper understanding of Japan and feel more familiar with it.

We hope that through this series our readers will be able to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture to smooth their entry into the country.

The first series of articles is about “blood type fortune-telling” that is so prevalent in Japan.

The reason why Japanese people strike up a frank conversation with a stranger is often because of their blood type. It's not about how Japanese people like to look at blood because they were samurai, we promise!
